Saturday, Kristie and Jay were upstairs sitting on the couch while Parker was supposed to be taking a nap. All of a sudden, we heard a “thud”. We looked at each other and then charged downstairs. When we got the bottom, Parker was standing in the doorway with a big smile on his face. We put him back in his crib and he proceeded to show us how he got out. We figured it was time to convert his crib into a toddler bed. Parker helped unwrap the sideboard and even helped screw in some of the screws. Of course, there would be no nap that day. At bedtime, Parker fell asleep beside his bed and Kristie ended up forklifting him into bed.
The next day at nap time, Parker wasn’t really interested in sleeping so we figured we’d leave him down there for a few minutes to relax. Jay stayed downstairs reading for a few minutes and as he was leaving, noticed that Parker had a box of crayons. When we went back to check on him, we realized that it wasn’t a crayon, but a Sharpie marker that Parker had. With blue hands, he had been working on an “art” project that included doodles on the baby-gate, crib and several books and other things. The rest of his nap time was devoted to cleanup time.
